On 3rd September, CAU, the restaurant group offering contemporary cuisine inspired by the vibrancy, colour and cultural diversity of Buenos Aires, will be bringing an added touch of South American flair and flavour to the Midlands with the launch of their newest opening in Warwickshire’s Regency spa town, Leamington Spa.
Following the success of CAU opening in Birmingham earlier on this year, Leamington Spa was sited as an ideal location for CAU’s next opening, with its expanding and diversifying restaurant scene, tourist appeal and rich history.
Located on 7 Satchwell Court, the restaurant will be spread across one floor with a separate bar area, as well as outside seating. The unique design motives for which CAU are known will feature corrugated booth seating and blue sky and grass imagery as well as an open plan kitchen giving diners the opportunity to see the chefs busy at work.
All-day dining will see customers through the doors from brunch through to dinner. Lazy weekends are made for leisurely brunches with an Argentinian twist (the CAU Breakfast, sweet potato hash or Latin eggs – grilled avocado, poached eggs on a muffin with a drizzle of chimichurri or steak and eggs) and a knock out Sunday Roast with all the trimmings: rump of beef, Yorkshire pudding, coal roasted carrots and beef-dripping roast potatoes.
CAU’s seasonally changing menus are served alongside the finest quality cuts of beef, cooked from a wood-fired grill, with a host of options to suit any occasion from individual small plates, generous sharing platters and an express menu for those short on time.
The dedicated bar will feature La Gringa on tap, an extensive list of CAU’s own brand wines, chosen to complement the flavoursome steak, as well as a range of cocktails and Clericots – an infamous Argentinian wine-based drink made from regional wine and local fruits – ideal for sharing.
CAU Leamington Spa will be open everyday from 10am.

Grass-fed Argentinian beef is prominent on the all-day menu at CAU, showcasing the Latin influences of the area which also includes the flavours of Spain and Italy. You can see innovative tapas style “small plates” to twice-cooked pork belly, fresh grilled fish, handmade burgers and moreish salads amongst dishes that are influenced by the cuisine and culture of Buenos Aires.
CAU is not your everyday ‘high street’ restaurant, from the quality of the fresh produce, daily on-site preparation of all elements, to the design and fit out of the restaurant and kitchen – a coal fired oven forms the centre piece of the CAU kitchen, the 16 CAU own brand wines which will be available at CAU Edinburgh. Each of the wines has been lovingly crafted by Phil Crozier, Gaucho and CAU’s Director of Wines and specifically introduced to accompany some of the premium dishes on the menu. In short, CAU intends to bring something new and genuinely different to the casual dining market in the area.
The CAU menu changes with the seasons, but their classic steak highlights including a Tira de Ancho, often referred to as ‘the king of steaks’; a spiral cut of rib-eye, marinated in chimichurri and grilled slowly for maximum tenderness and the Lomito, a fillet of rump, considered the finest cut in Argentina are available all year round.

CAU is the sister restaurant to the successful Gaucho group which operates 18 restaurants in the United Kingdom as well as Dubai and Hong Kong. Launched in 2012, CAU currently comprises 21 sites including Liverpool, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Guildford, Cambridge and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
As with all the restaurants in the group the team at CAU Leamington Spa will be getting actively involved in supporting the company’s chosen charity “Action Against Hunger” (ACF International), an industry-backed global charity aiming to wipe out child malnourishment & support those in desperate need of food and safe water at times of crisis.
