Square

Sunday night was a very special one at The Square, for the first time in the restaurants’ 22 odd years Phil Howard welcomed a guest chef into the kitchen to cook with him and The Square team.

It wasn’t just anyone he welcomed in though, over in the UK to attend the World’s 50 Best Restaurant awards, Luke Dake Roberts of the Test Kitchen (Cape Town) was the man to join Phil for this historic dinner.

The menu was made up of nine courses, four of them Phil’s, four of them Luke’s and one a collaborative dish. Every single one was a winner but if we could choose two it would be Luke’s ‘Pig’s Head Smiley’ and Phil’s soup of strawberries dessert. Flawless.

Luke is now on his way back to South Africa as the owner of the 48th best restaurant in the world and the best restaurant in Africa. Well done!
