July 2016: This July, Hungry Donkey, the Greek street food restaurant in Aldgate East, will be taking up residency at the Maltby Street Market in collaboration with Maltby&Greek, the UK’s leading Greek food and drinks supplier.

The pop-up will run across three weekends: 23rd/24th, 30th/31st of July and 6th/7th August. Hungry Donkey will be serving up a selection of their favourite dishes from the restaurant together with Greek craft beers and a selection of Greek wines.

On the menu will be Greek sausage or halloumi pita wraps with graviera cheese & caramelised onion, with a choice of toppings: either a Greek slaw (carrot & cabbage salad with a pomegranate molasses dressing) or Dakos salad (tomato, onion & feta cheese) along with a choice of two sauces, melitzanosalata (roasted aubergine dip) or tzatziki. There will also be a Greek salad, and Galaktoboureko, a traditional Greek custard pastry.

Owner Markos Tsimikalis says of the residency “Since Hungry Donkey’s inception in May 2015 we’ve hit the Greek food scene in London by storm, differentiating ourselves by concentrating on bringing simple, authentic Greek food and drink to Londoners in a modern setting. Maltby&Greek has been working very closely with our team to source the best expert Greek farmers and producers across a huge array of products including cheeses, craft beers and wines. We are very excited to be teaming up with them for the Maltby Street Market and showing the crowds the best Greece has to offer. After all, both our logos feature donkeys so it would only be natural for us to work together! “

Maltby Street Market runs 9am – 4pm on Saturdays and 11am – 4pm on Sundays amongst the railway arches in the Ropewalk, Bermondsey, South London.
