Taverna Ermou, the beloved Athens restaurant celebrated for its deeply rooted Greek culinary traditions and neighbourhood spirit, will open its first London outpost at 38–40 James Street in Marylebone on 21st March 2026. The 120-cover restaurant, spanning 2,500 sq ft over a single floor, brings an authentic slice of Athens to the heart of the West End, continuing the legacy of its flagship location on Ermou Street.
Created by the renowned Greek hospitality group ERGON, the restaurant promises an immersive experience that reflects the warmth and conviviality of its Athens counterpart. Founded in 2008, ERGON is an F&B-led hospitality group that has played a pioneering role in championing Greek culinary heritage on a global stage. With a growing presence across Greece, the UK, Qatar, the UAE and Cyprus, the group has built a distinctive portfolio that celebrates the very best of Mediterranean food, culture and living.
In Athens, Taverna Ermou has become a daily fixture for locals, welcoming guests from morning through to late evening. The concept will now expand internationally with the opening of its second site in London. The menu is rooted in Greek culinary tradition, honouring time-tested recipes prepared with care and simplicity. Curated by Culinary Director Panagiotis Xanthis, the menu is rooted in Greek culinary tradition and centred around what the team describes as a “fish soul”. It features a selection of handmade cold and warm dips, Greek meze plates and fresh salads, alongside Taverna Ermou classics from the pot and grill, distinctive pasta dishes and signature desserts.
Design plays a key role in shaping the atmosphere of the Marylebone restaurant. Raw, tactile materials anchor the space, while warm textures invite guests to settle in and stay. The result is a restaurant that feels both unmistakably Athenian and naturally at home in Marylebone – a timeless neighbourhood taverna that continues the story first told on Ermou Street.
