2020 has been a pretty strange and bizarre time to say the least but, with a new year on the horizon we’re idly planning ahead with the hope of the world returning to right soon. Below the Me:Mo Team have rounded up their top three fave romantic restaurants in London because it’s Christmastime, we love food, and it’s time to end the year on a high.
Following Sri Lankan restaurant Kolamba’s huge success during lockdown with its DIY home kits, we assure you, this is not one to miss.
Situated slap bang in the heart of London’s buzzing Soho, Kolamba is the perfect spot for your next date night. The menu serves up unpretentious, home-cooking styled Sri Lankan food with the most unbelievable flavour combinations and creative twists. It really is a place like no other. Iconic dishes and renowned street foods have been transformed into fine-dining, shareable plates making it the most ideal spot to visit with your lucky guest. Eat your way through Hot Butter Cuttlefish, an array of curries, chutneys and rotis; each served with a fiery sambol.
Skye Gyngell’s latest venture ‘Spring’ undoubtedly features in our guide to the top restaurants in London. As if strolling through the remarkable arches of Somerset House isn’t romantic enough, stepping into the restaurant takes the experience to a whole other level.
Spring occupies the ‘new wing’ of Somerset House, and has since transformed the space into the most elegant dining room, adorned with vases of flowers and grand white columns. Light floods the room in every corner giving it a certain charm and ambience that truly lifts your mood as soon as you walk through the doors. Aside from the good looks, Skye’s exquisite Italian style menu is also not one to miss. At Spring, seasonality is key alongside a passion for producing food which is entirely wholesome and made with love. Dishes include Tagliolini with White Truffle and Chestnut Ice-Cream with warm Chocolate Sauce to finish.
Phat Phat Noodle Bar truly defines simplicity at its finest. This hidden gem is tucked away in a beautiful courtyard just off the Kings Road. Big bowls of Vietnamese Pho are made right in front of you giving off the most wonderful authentic street food vibe. It is a combination between this, and the delicious yet affordable dishes, which make this restaurant one of most wonderful and more unique romantic restaurants in London. With only a small menu this is the perfect spot for a quick lunch or early dinner with everything under a tenner. What’s more, the heated courtyard makes it the perfect spot for a friend date in light of the new Government Guidelines. We couldn’t recommend it more!
