East London is known for its eclectic people and businesses. With fun markets, vintage shops and an amazing food scene, it’s impossible to tire of wandering around this vibrant area. If you’re looking to spend some time in East London, here are a few of the places that we recommend.

  1. Columbia Road Flower Market

A London classic, the Columbia Road Flower Market as we know it has steadily grown in popularity since the 1980’s, although its history does go back centuries. Today, the market can be enjoyed on Sundays from 8:00 – 3:00-ish, but we recommend arriving early so that you’ll have your pick of the best buds. It’s situated near Brick Lane and Spitalfields, and the gorgeous array of flowers simply can’t be missed. Grab a coffee and wander the stalls in search of your perfect bouquet for a lovely start to the week.

2. Origin Coffee Roasters

No day can truly be enjoyed without a good cup of coffee – or three. When we find ourselves in Shoreditch, we always make a stop at Origin Coffee. The specialty coffee is superb and the shop, complete with an interesting mural, is a gorgeous place to spend time. You can even buy its beans to make at home.

3. Brick Lane

Brick Lane is home to another Sunday market, although this one specialises in vintage and second-hand collectables. It runs from 10:00 – 5:00, and there are plenty of food options mixed in with the vintage stalls. Brick Lane is especially known for its Indian cuisine, so it’s a great place to go for tandoori chicken or curry. There are also great vintage shops on Brick Lane, which are open all week, so the street is a treat no matter what day of the week it is.

4.Dinerama

If street food is your thing, you have to visit Dinerama. Open Wednesday – Saturday from 6:00 – 12:30, this warehouse space is the perfect place for a casual dinner or the start to a night out. Enjoy everything from jerk chicken to steamed dumplings – it also has a kebab stand that’s unlike any other kebabs you’ve ever seen! There’s plenty of choice for cocktails and beer, and it even has a separate wine bar, dubbed Winerama.

5. Discount Suit Company

A speakeasy style bar, Discount Suit Company was originally used as a storeroom for the men’s suit store above. It’s a bit hidden away, which makes it that much more special. It’s a small space, but it has a lively atmosphere and amazing cocktail menu. One visit will have you hooked on this hidden gem.
