Middle Eight launches ‘The Covent Garden Crescendo’: A musically inspired Afternoon Tea experience

Covent Garden’s luxury hotel Middle Eight is set to send tastebuds racing with their all-new musically inspired Afternoon Tea. Launching on 8^th March, just in time for Mother’s Day, a symphony of sweet treats and sandwiches will be on offer.

Located in the heart of theatreland, Middle Eight, the luxury hotel whose name derives from the musical term, provides the perfect backdrop for the Afternoon Tea experience with its harmonious blend of beautiful design, timeless luxury and eclectic soundtrack. The menu, which will be served in The Balcony, will celebrate the hotel’s affinity with music whilst delighting guests with a harmony of flavours and textures.

Leading the culinary brigade is Head Pastry Chef and former Bake Off: The Professionals semi-finalist, Clanny Rodrigues (formerly of The Ivy), with his creation of the ultimate Afternoon Tea at £45 per person and £55 with a glass of Prosecco.

Centre stage includes a host of delicate delights with decorative and musical touches: ‘Blood Orange Opera’ – citrus Pannacotta with layers of blood orange jelly; ‘Treble Clef Treat’ – silky smooth and delicate Pistachio macaron filled with buttercream & roasted praline; and crispy, creamy ‘Hazelnut Harmony’ – Clanny’s twist on the classic Hazelnut éclair.

Standing ovation for the ultimate Lemon Meringue tart ‘To the Beat’ alongside the show-stopping ‘Strike a Chord’ – the light and fluffy almond cake with a centre of fresh raspberries and topped with gold leaf. Stage left and not to be forgotten are the quintessential vanilla and fruit scones which will be served with clotted cream and jam preserve.

Those with a savoury tooth can also opt for finger sandwiches of Coronation chicken, smoked salmon & cream cheese and Grilled vegetables with hummus served on a mixture of turmeric, charcoal and onion bread.
