Pizza Pilgrims Launches ‘The Great British Crust Comeback’ With Dishoom, Honest Burgers, Pho & Sweet Dee’s Jerk This April

This April, Neapolitan-style pizza restaurant, Pizza Pilgrims, is teaming up with iconic British brands and long-time industry friends Dishoom, Honest Burgers, Pho and Sweet Dee’s Jerk to launch a limited-edition pizza crust dipper menu. Available throughout April, the new Double Dip menu celebrates the signature flavours each brand is best known for, reimagined as crave-worthy sauces perfect for crust-dipping. 

The launch taps into a well-documented British habit. Previous research suggests that one in four (25%) can’t eat crusts without a dip, while three-quarters (75%) say they would be more likely to finish them if served with the right sauce. 

Pizza Pilgrims estimates that up to 47 tonnes of crusts are wasted each year – the equivalent weight of four London buses.  

Pizza Pilgrims lives by the motto ‘In Crust We Trust’. This April, they intend to tackle the nation’s ‘crust issues’ head-on and are making the ‘cornicione’ the most exciting part of the plate with the introduction of the Double Dip menu. 

“In Napoli, the crust is the soul of the pizza, and ours is made fresh daily using the best ingredients from the region,” say James and Thom Elliot, Founders of Pizza Pilgrims. “We started thinking – what if the right dips with some of our hospitality friends could save the nation’s crust-wasting habits?” 

Introducing four unique, taste-packed dipping sauces inspired by flavours deeply familiar to the British public, helping ensure plates are left clean, and no crusts go to waste: 

• The Dishoom Chilli Chutney Dip mixes house mayo with tingling red chilli, garlic, citrus and spices for a punchy kick. 

• The Honest Burgers Rosemary Chips Dip blends house mayo with fresh rosemary, crushed olive oil crisps and salt for a herb-forward bite. 

• The Pho Peanut Sauce combines peanut sauce with chilli and garlic for a rich, nutty, savoury dip. 

• Sweet Dee’s Jerk BBQ is a smoky BBQ sauce with Sweet Dee’s signature blend of jerk spices, creating a sweet, fiery finish. 

Through the Double Dip menu launch, Pizza Pilgrims is also celebrating World Wish Month – a global initiative that raises funds to grant life-changing wishes for critically ill children and their families. Throughout April, the brand will double its donations – and wishes granted – from every dipper sold. 

It’s all part of Pizza Pilgrims’ mission to make the world a happier place, one pizza and dipper at a time. 

The crust dippers will be available in all Pizza Pilgrims pizzerias nationwide and via Deliveroo throughout April, priced at £2 each or £6 for the full set.
