With May almost here, Summer is slowly starting to arrive and with that, we are ready to make the most of the best outdoor dining in London. From market stalls and pop-ups to restaurant gardens and sophisticated terraces, 2021 is the year of outdoor dining and so we have rounded up the best of the best to fill your diaries.
Nestled on a quaint corner of Bermondsey Street, José’s, from renowned Spanish Chef José
Pizarro, transports us to the typical tapas bars of Spain with people pouring out onto the street, beer in one hand and croqueta in the other. With only a small handful of spots outside be sure to arrive early to grab a seat at one of the outside barrels and soak up some afternoon sun.
A true London gem, Rochelle Canteen in Shoreditch is hidden away in a converted bike shed and hosts a large patio and garden draped with grapevines. A perfect location escaping the hustle and bustle of East London, we recommend sipping on a glass of St John’s rosé and ordering one of everything from the daily changing menu. Think duck rillettes with cornichons, cod with braised fennel and aioli and classic British desserts like pavlova and homemade ice cream to finish.
In the peace and quiet of London’s Ram Quarter, London Stock boasts a large open terrace for long lunches in the sun, a perfect spot for meandering through the courses of their eight-part tasting menu. London Stock serves modern British food with touches of Japanese, French and Italian alongside an extensive wine and cocktail menu, perfect for a celebration.
London’s favourite restaurant took their offering outside for the very first time in 2020 and they have recently announced it’s here to stay in 2021. Located in Climpson’s Arch and covered in case of unreliable British weather, Tomas Parry and the Brat team are serving up a frequently changing menu, with classics such as whole turbot, wood-fired breads and basque cheesecake definitely making this a strong contender for the best outdoor dining in London. We would recommend booking in advance to get a seat at this foodie hot spot.
